Humor and hops brewing in New Brighton

Jan. 24--NEW BRIGHTON -- Savor craft beer and laughter, as another Kegs of Comedy show rolls into Petrucci Brothers Brewing this Saturday.

Five comedians will perform standup for the New Brighton brewery's customers.

The lineup:

--Senneca Stone, a regular performer at the Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo and The Pittsburgh Improv.

--Tim Ross, a Beaver County native now living in New Brighton. A regular performer on the Kegs of Comedy Stand-Up Showcase, he also runs the bimonthly comedy show at Petrucci's called Loaded Deck.

--Matt Parsons, a U.S. Army Reserves combat veteran who hosts two weekly open mics; at Dee's Cafe on Pittsburgh'sSouth Side and the R Bar in Dormont.

--John Dick Winters, a standup comedian, comedy producer and storyteller who founded the Burning Bridges comedy festival in Pittsburgh. He won the inaugural Arcade Comedy Theater Contest in 2014, and finished in third in the Funniest Comic in Pittsburgh contest in 2015. He also has been heard on The WDVE-FM Morning Show.

--Elliott Burns, who produces and hosts a variety of high energy, professional comedy shows spanning from Columbus, Ohio to New Jersey. He co-hosts a Monday night comedy open mic at the Smiling Moose on Pittsburgh'sSouth Side.

"This is hands down our best line-up yet," Kegs of Comedy emcee and mastermind Christopher Scriva, a Blackhawk graduate, said. "Every comedian on this show is a major producer and player in the southwestern Pennsylvania comedy scene. Many of these performers can be seen at Pittsburgh's top comedy venues including Burning Bridges Comedy Club, The Pittsburgh Improv, Arcade Comedy Theater and Unplanned Comedy Warehouse."

Doors open at 7 p.m., with the laughs starting at 8 for what Scriva has named the Snowpocalypse Edition of his back-by-popular-demand Kegs of Comedy show.

There's a $10 cover. The Cousins Maine Lobster food truck will be parked outside to serve the hungry.

"This is a 100 percent locally produced show at a local brewery, with a local food truck and all local performers," Scriva said. "People can support and see some of Pittsburgh's top performers in their own backyard for a fraction of the price that many other conventional venues charge.

"Any one of these hilarious comedians could easily become the next big thing," he said. "Today is a brewery on New Brighton; tomorrow could be HBO or Netflix."
