Free flu shots for veterans at Walgreens

South Florida Sun Sentinel - 11/13/2019

Veterans Day may be over, but freebies for our military heroes continue to flow.

Walgreens is offering free quadrivalent flu shots to veterans enrolled in the Veterans Administration health care system. No appointment is necessary, but you must fill out a form at SunSentinel.com/freeforvets and bring it to the store.

Just prove you’re enrolled in the VA system and show a Veterans Health Identification Card or photo ID. Shots are also available at VA health care facilities.

This flu season could be the worst ever, so if you haven’t been immunized, the time to get a flu shot is now. Cases of the flu begin to rise sharply in the fall and early winter, peaking in February, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The program runs through March 31 at nearly 10,000 Walgreens’ and Duane Reade locations.

For more information, call 866-964-1812 or go to VA.gov/COMMUNITYCARE/programs/veterans/immunization.asp.
