Thanks to those who helped with Veterans Stand Down event

The Daily Herald - 7/21/2018

On June 25 the community came together to serve those who served our country at Snohomish County's Veterans Stand Down event. Over 75 homeless veterans were able to connect with much needed services such as haircuts, dental screenings, clothing and gear, housing information, meals, employment resources, and legal services thanks to the event's tireless volunteers.

Originally modeled after the Stand Down concept born during the Vietnam War, the chance for battle-weary soldiers to renew their sense of well-being after returning from combat operations, Stand Down events bring together a wide range of support services to one location, making them more accessible to homeless veterans. Thirty distinct service providers were represented at our community's first Stand Down event in a decade.

The Snohomish County Veterans Homelessness Committee and Workforce Snohomish would like to thank all the volunteers, organizers and partners who made this event possible. A special thanks to the wonderful host, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2100, who donated both the space and unmatched enthusiasm for the cause of ending veteran homelessness. Finally thank you to the businesses and organizations surrounding the Everett VFW Post 2100 for their patience and understanding to ensure this event was successful for everyone who participated!
