Info sought on World War II veteran's grave marker

Cleburne Times-Review - 7/7/2020

Jul. 7--A grave marker needs to be returned to its rightful place and members of Cleburne'sAmerican Legion Post 50 are hoping the public can help.

The post's Commander Allen Buckles said post members are trying to locate family members, friends or associates of the late John Curtis Eubank who was born Nov. 20, 1915, and passed away Oct. 26, 1990.

"Mr Eubank served his country as a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II," Buckles said. "Regrettably, the legion has no other available information on which to reach out to anyone.

"The legion is in possession of Mr. Eubank's official Veteran Affairs grave site monument marker and wants very much to return it to any rightful surviving relative, heir and/or to its proper burial site."

Buckles said a couple who purchased a house in Cleburne dropped the marker off at the post about a year or two ago, before Buckles became post commander. Buckles said he has no information on the people who brought the marker to the post nor does he know which house it was found in or how it came to be there.

Anyone with information on Eubank or who knows any of his family, heirs or associates is urged to contact Post 50 Adjutant Ray Cram at 817-517-1900.

"Any possible information or leads would be greatly appreciated," Buckles said. "The American legionnaires of Post 50 continue to support our brave military veterans past, present and future. For God and country, thank you for your assistance."
